A Republican member of the House Select Committee on Intelligence argued Thursday that people who are advancing the idea that Russia hacked into U.S. computer systems in order to help Donald Trump win the election have no basis for that claim, and are now doing Russia's work for it by creating uncertainty. "There is no CIA conclusion," King said. "The CIA has repeatedly told us that they have no idea what the intent was. They think if there is an intent, it is to disrupt the election, to create confusion, and cast a cloud over the winner." King said. "And right now, certain elements of the media, certain elements of the intelligence community, and certain politicians are really doing the work of the Russians," he added. "They're creating this uncertainty over the election, this is several days before the Electoral College." King said in the briefings he's received, intelligence officials have said they don't know Russia's motive for allegedly hacking into Democratic emails and releasing them. The Obama administration has said it has traced the cyberattack back to Russia, but also hasn't said it can explain any specific reason for the attack.

Mr. Kumar added that Thursday’s meeting was a broader gathering between his and Mr. Trump’s family, as Mr. Kumar’s daughter, Bollywood actor Manasvi Mamgai had also attended, as did Mr. Trump’s children Ivanka, and Eric. However, he said that discussions on this subject would focus on “the procurement of advanced military weaponry for the defence of [India]. [Mr. Trump] is very much for that. This is the second time when he affirmed [this]. The first time [was] when we had apprised him of the situation which does not allow U.S. companies to sell advanced weaponry to India. He at that time had expressed the opinion that that should be changed. In Thursday’s meeting he reaffirmed [this].” Mr. Kumar added, “As soon as we could manage to get [new] legislation through Congress, which is controlled by Republicans, so it should be no problem at all. We should have that legislation in a pretty short time.”

Billionaire Microsoft founder and philanthropist Bill Gates traveled to Trump Tower on Tuesday afternoon for a visit with President-elect Donald Trump. “In the same way President Kennedy talked about the space mission and got the country behind that, I think whether it’s education or stopping epidemics, other health breakthroughs, finishing polio and in this energy space, there can be a very upbeat message that his administration is going to organize things, get rid of regulatory barriers, and have American leadership through innovation.” Gates said. “I think this administration likes a good deal,” Gates said, signaling his hope that Washington D.C. would increase the research and development spending for cheap sources of clean energy.

Brown was expected to discuss how the empowerment program he founded in 1988, Amer-I-Can, could serve as a means for the Trump administration to help the black community, Scott, a Cleveland Heights pastor, told reporters in the Trump Tower lobby. "It's a great, great program. It deals with most of the issues that the black community has. It deals with empowerment, entrepreneurship, crime, gangs, drugs, education, prison reform, all of that is in this one program. I've been familiar with it. He's Cleveland. I'm Cleveland. And so we're bringing him here to discuss it with Mr. Trump. Hopefully the administration gets behind it. We can use this program to hit the ground running," Scott said.
