Senator Roy Blunt says his meeting with President-elect Donald J Trump was about Inauguration day. "Its a great day for our country a great day for people all over the world" Blunt told reporters at Trump Tower Lobby "What's most miraculous about it is we make it look so commonplace and easy to do and a great moment for the world" Blunt says he had a good time talking about it today. John Louis spoke with Chuck Todd today and says the President-elect, who won 306 electoral votes to Clinton's 232, is not a ligament President. "I think it's interesting that the people who were so concerned before Mr Trump won about whether the election results would be excepted are no longer interested in that." Blunt said "John Louis is a great man, a friend of mine, He has to make his own decisions" Blunt continued to say "The idea of constantly looking for ways to delegitimize the results of the election, No matter how unhappy you are about it, isn't the best example." Blunt says "The best we set is understanding there is a democratic process you go through, there's a unique process in our country were states still matter". Senator Blunt's say Mr Trump won that process.

The Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs will begin confirmation hearings on Thursday for Dr. Ben Carson, the retired neurosurgeon and former presidential candidate President-elect Donald Trump selected to serve in his cabinet as secretary of Housing and Urban Development. Carson’s compelling personal story makes it difficult for Democrats and academic to generate enthusiasm for a concerted effort to stall his confirmation. After Carson clears the Senate Committee on Banking and Housing and Urban Affairs, Democrats will be unable to stop his confirmation, which now requires only a simple majority, due to a rules change made by the Democrats under the leadership of recently retired former Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid.

The Republican-led Senate has approved a waiver to allow retired U.S. Marine Corps Gen. James “Mad Dog” Mattis to serve as incoming President Donald Trump’s secretary of defense. Although he only retired in 2013, Gen. Mattis easily cleared an early procedural hurdle after his confirmation hearing, during which he described Russia as a “principal” threat against the United States. Following the Senate Armed Services Committee’s bipartisan 24-3 vote, the full-chamber voted 81-17 vote to in favor of the waiver. The only committee members who voted against his waiver are Democratic Sens. Kirsten Gillibrand (NY), Richard Blumenthal (CT) and Elizabeth Warren (MA).

Mike Pompeo confirmation hearing

BY BREITBART

During his confirmation hearing, Congressman Mike Pompeo (R-KS) said he would observe the proper laws forbidding enhanced interrogation of terror suspects and affirmed that he believes Russia is a threat to the United States. He also noted, however, that attempts to undermine President-elect Donald Trump plays right into the hands of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Pompeo also said he would support an extensive investigation into just what forms that “aggressive action” took during the 2016 campaign saying, “I will continue to pursue foreign intelligence with vigor no matter where the facts lead.” Said. “The internet,” Pompeo said, “is a borderless, global environment, easily and frequently exploited by sophisticated adversaries like China and Russia, as well as by less sophisticated adversaries like Iran and North Korea, non-state actors, terrorist groups, criminal organizations, and hackers.” The hearing was not without humor, either, as Arizona Republican John McCain, a graduate of the Naval Academy, joked that Pompeo’s education was “very poor” because he was a graduate of West Point.

BY TIMES OF ISRAEL

Far-right French presidential candidate Marine Le Pen on Thursday visited the New York headquarters of the incoming US president she openly admires, but his aides said she met neither Donald Trump nor his staff. The National Front leader was spotted having coffee at Trump Ice Cream Parlor on the lower-level lobby of Trump Tower, a skyscraper on Fifth Avenue, with three men including her partner Louis Aliot, the party’s vice president. Also sighted with Le Pen was George “Guido” Lombardi, an Italian businessman who lives in Trump Tower and was described in a Politico profile as Trump’s “self-professed contact to Europe’s far-right parties.” Asked by journalists if she was there to meet Trump, Le Pen refused to respond. “She is not meeting with anyone from our team,” Trump spokeswoman Hope Hicks told reporters. “No meetings. It’s a public building,” said Trump spokesman Sean Spicer. But several hours later, it was unclear whether Le Pen was still in the building or had left out of public view.

Elaine Chao, Donald Trump’s pick to serve as the next secretary of transportation, faces a Senate committee Wednesday as part of her confirmation process. During my career, I have had the privilege of leading large, complex organizations in the public and non-profit sectors,” Chao wrote in prepared remarks ahead of the hearing. “In each of these positions, my goal has been to help others access opportunity and build better lives for themselves and their families by supporting policies that foster job creation and workforce competitiveness.” Chao, who was born in Taiwan, moved to the United States at age 8 and became a U.S. citizen at age 19. She is married to Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, who said he would not recuse himself from a vote on her confirmation.
